Conferences – Symposiums

• In November 2001, on the 50th anniversary of Gregorios Xenopoulos’ death, ELIA organised a conference on the manifold work of the novelist, critic, pedagogue and publisher. The conference was held in collaboration with Vlassis Bros Editions and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the National Book Centre.

• In October 1996, E.L.I.A. organised a conference entitled "Children's Books in Greece". The proceedings, containing research papers by important philologists and bibliographers, were published the following year.

• In May 1995, E.L.I.A. organised a three-day international meeting entitled "Greece 1936-1949. Dictatorship - Occupation - Civil War: Continuities and Discontinuities". Its subject was the end of the German occupation and the beginning of the Civil War.

• During the fall of 1993, a conference was held, entitled "The 3rd of September 1843 and its Constitution. An Evaluation 150 Years Later". It was organised in cooperation with the Institute of Greek Constitutional History and Constitutional Science.

• In 1993 the meeting "Greece During the Balkan Wars 1910-1914" was held. The 35 scientific papers submitted covered a wide range of issues and the period was examined in its entirety.

• In 1989, 1991 and 1993 three conferences on bibliography were held in collaboration with the Union of Educational Practitioners of Athens College (SELKA). They were entitled: "Bibliography in Greece Today", "Bibliography and Technology" and "Bibliography and Documentation Centres".

• In 1986, a three-day conference on Eleftherios Venizelos was held in collaboration with the Benaki Museum. The proceedings were published in a collective volume.
